Jane Kassner made paintings with both bold brushwork and a sensitivity of subtle color palettes, using gallery advertisements from ArtForum as ground for her abstract compositions. Her powerful marks on their own call to mind the abstract expressionists Helen Frankenthaler or Joan Mitchell, but feel highly conceptual in her interpretation of advertisements for blue chip galleries.
