As with many of Bruce Howell's colored pencil pieces, this untitled work celebrates repetition and subtle divergence. Here, 4 people, standing upright or perhaps laying down if viewed through an aerial perspective, appear in a single row, taking up nearly the entire paper. Their bodies feature different colored segments, yet all with white space faces, sweet red smiles, small blue circular eyes, small triangular orange noses, and simple brown hair that frames their faces. Around their bodies are geometric blocks of colors, wrapping around their bodies, but not their faces, resembling colorful cocoons.
