BARBARA GUHL

Barbara Guhl's textile practice intersects avant garde fashion with soft sculpture, resulting in garments that envelope, adorn, and obscure the body. Using brightly colored crochet shapes and long strands, Guhl trusses these appliques to existing pieces of clothing or sews them together to form a garment. In her early years at Creative Growth, Guhl worked on paper to create abstract portraits of "people in the house."
